From JoBlo

As we all know DISTRICT 9 and CHAPPIE director Neill Blomkamp was working on a direct sequel to Paul Verhoeven's original ROBOCOP flick called ROBOCOP RETURNS. He has since left the film but today we've learned that LITTLE MONSTERS director Abe Forsythe will take over!

Original writers Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner are producing and exec producing and Justin Rhodes (the new TERMINATOR flick) will rewrite the script that Neumeier and Miner wrote way back in the '80s. We'll keep up-to-date on any and all news we hear regarding this new flick so make sure to keep checking back with us here at AITH. Stay tuned!

Meanwhile, TOTAL RECALL and STARSHIP TROOPERS director Paul Verhoeven's 1987 cyberpunk action film ROBOCOP starring Peter Weller was based on the screenplay written by Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner, it begins:

In a violent, near-apocalyptic Detroit, evil corporation Omni Consumer Products wins a contract from the city government to privatize the police force. To test their crime-eradicating cyborgs, the company leads street cop Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) into an armed confrontation with crime lord Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith) so they can use his body to support their untested RoboCop prototype. But when RoboCop learns of the company's nefarious plans, he turns on his masters.
